Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Mohammed Aminu Yakubu was born on 10 March 1967 in Yana of Shira Local Government Area of Bauchi State. He attended the prestigious Air Force Military School in Jos of Plateau State as one of the pioneering students from 1980 to 1985. Mohammed was commissioned to the rank of Pilot Officer in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on 22 September 1990, after his graduation from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) as a member of the 37thRegular Course.
Courses attended both military and civil includes:
Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the NDA.
Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from National Defense University, Islamabad, Pakistan.
Some of the appointments held include:
Commanding Officer of the Engineering Wing at the Presidential Air Fleet in Abuja.
Group Logistics Officer at 131 Engineering Group Makurdi.
Deputy Director for Evaluation at HQ NAF and Nigeria’s Defence Adviser in Washington DC from May 2014 to June 2017.
Director of Procurement at the HQ NAF.
Currently Chief of Logistics, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Abuja.
AVM Yakubu is currently the Chief of Logistics (CLog) at the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force (HQ NAF), Abuja. In this position, he is directly responsible to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) for the formulation of policies on Logistics and the provision of infrastructural and other logistics needs of the NAF. Additionally, the CLog is responsible for the collation of NAF’s annual material budget and advises the CAS on land and landed properties acquisition for the NAF.
He enjoys outdoor sporting activities, travelling and meeting people.
