AIR OFFICER COMMANDING LOGISTICS COMMAND

BACKGROUND

  1. Air Vice Marshal Lawal Shittu Alao was born on 2 August 1966 and hails from Oyo State. He had his early education at Corona Primary School Jos from 1970 – 1973 and Capital School Kaduna from 1973 – 1977. Thereafter, he attended the prestigious Nigerian Military School Zaria from 1977 to 1982 before proceeding to the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria from 1982 – 1986 where he studied Business Administration. While at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, he enlisted into the Nigerian Air Force as a member of University Cadet Course 2 on 1 June 1984 and was commissioned as a regular combatant officer to the rank of pilot officer on 11 September 1985 with specialization in Supply and Logistics. The AOC rose meritoriously through the ranks and was promoted to the present rank of Air Vice Marshal on 11 September 2013.

OTHER INFORMATION

  1. Air Vice Marshal Alao has made outstanding contributions to capacity building in the Armed Forces of Nigeria, particularly at the strategic level. He was an external examiner to the National Defence College for the assessment of participants’ research projects in 2013 and 2014. He was later returned to the College as the Chairman for the assessment of participants’ research projects in 2015 and 2016. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management as well as the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply of the United Kingdom.
  2. Air Vice Marshal Alao is happily married to Mrs Nanfe Alao and the union is blessed with 4 children (2 girls and 2 boys). At his leisure time, he enjoys listening to music and keeping fit by walking and swimming. He also enjoys watching football, reading and discussing contemporary global, regional and domestic issues.
