Air Vice Marshal Idi Amin was enlisted into the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of 33 Regular Course on 10 January 1983 and was commissioned Pilot Offr on 4 December 1985. After his flying training he proceeded to Air Force Institute of Technology Kaduna where he had his Basic Aircraft Educational Course and bagged Higher National Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering as Aero Mechanical Engineer in 1990. The Senior Officer is type-rated on the C130 Aircraft on Airframe and Engine where he spent 80% of his service Career. He is also type-rated on the Alpha Jet Aircraft.

Junior and Senior Staff Courses at Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji Kaduna.
National Defence College (NDC) Abuja, In-depth training on C130 at Dornier Facility Munich Germany.
Aircraft Management Course at Gatwick United Kingdom.

Deputy Director Civil-Military Relations Department Defence Headquarters Abuja.
Commander 451 Base Services Group Kaduna.
Commander 351 Base Services Group Minna.
Deputy Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy.
He was also the Nigerian Air Force representative during the periodic Depot Maintenance of one of the C130 aircraft.
Currently Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command.
