BACKGROUND

  1. Born 5 November 1968, Emmanuel Alu Wonah hails from Yala LGA in Cross River State. He had his secondary education at Mary Knoll College, Ogoja between 1978 and 1984 before securing admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) as a member of 37 Regular Combatant Course in on 27 September 1985, and subsequently commissioned pilot officer on 23 September 1990. He has since risen steadily in rank over the years. He was promoted to the present rank of Air Vice Marshal (AVM) on 27 September 2017.

  1. AVM EA Wonah has attended several courses, workshops, seminars and conferences. Some of which are:

  • Aircraft Accident Investigation (Pakistan)

QUALIFICATIONS AND DECORATIONS

  1. EA Wonah is an Aircraft Engineer. He is rated on the MB-339, L-39ZA Jet aircraft and the  C-130H Avionics/Electrical & Instruments systems. Emma holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering (MEng Elect) from Bayero University, Kano (1995), Master of Science in Strategic Studies (MSc SS) from University of Ibadan (2014), a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics (BSc Phy) from NDA (1989), and Certificates in Aircraft Accident Investigation (Pakistan), Quality Assurance (Pakistan), Project Management and ICAO SMS among others. He is a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM) and an aspiring member of Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals. His decorations include FSS, MSS, DSS, psc(+), fdc(+), MNIM, etc.

 MARITAL STATUS AND HOBBIES

  1. Emma is married to Mrs Freda Wonah. Their union is blessed with 2 boys; Lemuel and Ezra.  He is fairly travelled. Countries visited include USA, UK, Germany, Pakistan, Czech, Philippines, Indonesia and Senegal. Others are Eritea, Tanzania, Togo, Central African Republic, South Africa, Lesotho, Ghana, Malawi, Burundi and Burkina-Faso. His hobbies include watching documentaries, acquiring and impacting knowledge and listening to gospel tunes. Wonah is a proponent of physical fitness. He enjoys jogging, long distance driving and nature-watching.
