AIR VICE MARSHAL OLUFEMI SAMSON OGUNSINA

1.​AVM Olufemi Samson Ogunsina was born in his home town Ibadan, and hails from Lagelu LGA of Oyo State. He was enlisted into the NAF
on 17 September 1989 as a member of Nigerian Defence Academy Regular Combatant Course41. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned into the Nigerian Air Force as a Pilot Officer on 17 September 1994. He was promoted to his current rank on 17 September2021. The senior officer holds an MSc Thermal Power with Option of Gas Turbine Technology from Cranfield University, United Kingdom. He also holds a Master in Disaster and Risk Management from Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria as well as Master in Military Science from National Defense University, Beijing China.

 

2.​Apart from the academic/university degrees highlighted, AVM Femi Ogunsina has also attended several military and professional courses. Some of which include: Initial OfficersAircraft Engineering Course at Air Force Institute of Technology ; Non-Destructive Testing programme at Petroleum Training Institute, Warri ; Typerating courses on Alpha Jet aircraft Larzac engine and Super Puma helicopter Safran Makila engine and Aerostar Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, Israel. He also attended a certificate course of management in aviation safety series from Embryo-Riddle Aeronautical University USA in Aviation Ground Safety, Aviation Safety Program Management and Aircraft Accident Investigation and Management. The senior officer had his junior and senior staff military courses at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji –Kaduna; participated in a United Nations Integrated Mission Staff Officer Course in Canada, and Lecturer Certification Course at Cranfield University, United Kingdom.  He is also an alumnus of International College of Defence Study at National Defense University, China.

 

3.​In the course of his career in the Nigerian Air Force, AVM ‘Femi Ogunsina has held many appointments across NAF units and Defence establishments. Some of them include: Engineering Control Officer at 407 ACTG Kainji, Battalion Commanding Officer at the Nigerian Defence Academy and Group Training Officer at Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna. Hewas also a Staff Officer, Presidential Implementation Committee on Marine Safety and Security; Staff Officer Grade 1 to the Honorable Minister of Defence and later appointed Principal Staff Officer (Air) to the Chief of Defence Staff. He also served as the Coordinator Nigerian Air Force Typerating Course Secretariat, Deputy DirectorMaintenance and Director, Recruitment Resettlement and Reserve at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force. Other appointments he held include Director, Launch Services and Space Operations at Defence Space Administrationand Director, Space Utilization at Defence Headquarters. He is currently the Chief of Aircraft Engineering at the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force.

4.​AVM ‘Femi Ogunsina is married to Dr (Mrs) Modupe Arinola Ogunsina and the marriage is blessed with 4 beautiful girls.
