The Nigeriain Air Force (NAF) yesterday, 18 December 2019, held its End of Year Sports Competition for NAF units in Abuja. Some of the games that were competed for include basketball, tug of war and golf. Speaking at the event, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who was represented by the Chief of Standards and Evaluation (COSE), Air Vice Marshal Regimius Eke, noted that the importance of sporting activities to a fighting force could not be overemphasized. He said the Service had therefore emplaced necessary sporting facilities in NAF Bases across the Country while encouraging its personnel to sustain the military culture of regular exercise in order to maintain their personal mental alertness for enhanced professional performance. The CAS said the regular Wednesday Games, Quarterly Route March and 10Km Walk/Jog Exercises as well as Annual Physical Training (PT) Tests were all geared towards ensuring that maximum fitness levels are maintained by personnel for operational readiness to meet the demands of the security threats in the various theatres of operation across the Country
