On 13 December 2024, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) hosted a delegation from the Chinese People's Liberation Army Defence University, led by Rear Admiral Hu Gang Feng. The delegation’s visit, aimed at strengthening military ties, was warmly received by the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP), Air Vice Marshal IH Etukudo, on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar.
AVM Etukudo highlighted the long-standing partnership between Nigeria and China, noting China's significant contributions to the NAF, including training, platform modernisation, and equipment procurement. He also emphasized that 57 NAF personnel have benefitted from training in China since 2019, reflecting the growing collaboration between the two nations.
Rear Admiral Hu expressed his appreciation for the NAF's operational excellence, particularly in counterterrorism and joint operations. He commended the NAF’s emphasis on capacity building, highlighting the importance of the Air Force’s comprehensive training programmes in fostering operational readiness. The visit underscored the growing collaboration between the two militaries, reinforcing their shared commitment to enhancing defense capabilities and strengthening bilateral ties.
