SKILL ACQUISITION: NAFOWA GRADUATES ANOTHER SET OF TRAINEES

The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) has graduated a new batch of trainees from its Skills Acquisition and Vocational Training Programme in Lagos. During the colourful graduation ceremony, the wife of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mrs Bolanle Patience Ambode, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion, described the event as a commendable show of commitment to the cause of humanity. Mrs Ambode said that she was particularly impressed with the vision of NAFOWA, which is all about making life more meaningful for the less privileged. She then advised the graduands to see the newly acquired skills as a golden opportunity to make their lives better.

Earlier, in her speech, the National President of NAFOWA, Hajiya Hafsat Sadique Abubakar explained that NAFOWA programmes are aimed at contributing the Association’s quota to the Federal Government’s efforts at reducing unemployment amongst youths and women. “We have since the kick-off of the programme, trained over 600 women, youths and widows who are already making us proud with their success stories. I, therefore, want to encourage us all not to be tired of our service to humanity”, she stated.

In his remarks, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar encouraged NAFOWA to remain committed to their quest towards making life more meaningful for the less privileged, especially widows and orphans.  He added that the role of the welfare of personnel’s dependents cannot be overemphasized. During the subsequent static display, the Chief of the Air Staff was very much impressed with some of the graduands’ products. In particular, he indicated the NAF’s readiness to use the shoes and boots fabricated by the graduands to kit female personnel and new recruits respectively. Accordingly, he immediately directed the appropriate NAF officers to commence discussions with NAFOWA. In the same vein, he directed that the aluminium products from the graduands of the  Programme should be used in subsequent NAF construction works. He added that the NAF would readily utilise the products as part of the its efforts towards the realization of the Federal Government’s focus on the promotion of local content and ingenuity.
