The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has promised a continuous and  harmonious  working relationship with the media, so as to provide timely and accurate information to the general public on NAF engagements in the Northeast and other parts of the country.

Disclosing this on Thursday, the new Director of Information and Public Relations (DOPRI), Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, who paid a courtesy  call on the Director General Nigerian Television Authority, Abuja, said that the NAF relies on the media to disseminate  information on its activities.

He also noted that his planned visit to media houses, which started with the NTA, is very important in view of the relevant role of the media in national development.

Air Commodore Adesanya stressed that the need for the NAF to renew its partnership with NTA towards national development was imperative.

According to him, "Being an agency of the government, the NAF is accountable to Nigerians and it is our duty to give them timely and accurate information our its activities. We are relying on media organisations like the NTA to disseminate this information.’’

The DOPRI while promising mutual working relationship with the media, reiterated the NAF's policy of not withholding public information. He as well urged media practitioners to be patriotic by verifying news before dissemination in the overall interest of the nation.

Responding, the Director General, NTA Abuja network station, Mallam Yakubu Ibn Mohammed disclosed that the NTA was ready to sustain the existing partnership with the NAF towards nation building.

Mallam Mohammed used the opportunity to commend the efforts of the NAF and the Armed Forces in the fight against insurgency in the Northeast.

While applauding the commitment of the current NAF leadership to reposition the Service into a highly professional and disciplined force, he assured the DOPRI of the NTA's readiness to exploit other areas of collaboration.

Meanwhile, the DOPRI is scheduled to visit other media houses in Abuja aside from his visit to NTA.
