The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today commenced a 2-day workshop on document security for unit commanders and administrative personnel. The workshop has as its theme, ‘Enhancing Document Security for Effective and Efficient Service Delivery in the NAF’. In an ever changing technology based world, the need to guarantee security of official documents and classified information cannot be overemphasised. This informed the decision of the NAF leadership to ensure that NAF personnel are adequately informed on evolving methods of safeguarding classified documents while performing their routine staff duties.
Declaring the workshop open, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar described the workshop as timely considering the urgent need to ensure document security practice and general administration in NAF units. “The ever changing global administrative and information technology environment has made it extremely difficult for the Service to ensure efficient and effective document security without regular avenues to update information and ideas through workshop of this nature”.
While urging participants to take full advantage of the workshop in sharing knowledge to enhance their capacity in line with international best practices, the CAS noted that the workshop would further engender professionalism as well as promote the NAF core values of integrity, excellence and service delivery. Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief of Administration, Air Vice Marshal Lawal Alao, said the theme for the workshop was conceived to remediate gaps observed on NAF documents security while adding that personnel should continue to strictly adhere to NAF laid down rules and procedures in handling classified security documents. During the 2 day event, 6 papers are expected to be delivered by seasoned resource persons.
