NAF COMMISSIONS TRANSIT ACCOMMODATION IN NAF BASE KADUNA, IMMORTALIZES ANOTHER FALLEN HERO

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a 30 x 1 residential block at NAF Base Kaduna. The new block, which would accommodate 120 airmen/airwomen, was specially designed to serve as transit accommodation for recruits that have just completed their basic military training. The fresh recruits would live in the transit accommodation for a period to enable them adjust to the new military life before being later allocated the usual accommodation for airmen/airwomen. The newly commissioned block was named after Aircraftman Joseph A of the NAF Supply Trade who was killed in action on 7 April 2009 while participating in Operation SAFE HAVEN in Jos, Plateau State. The naming of the block after the late airman was a deliberate act to immortalize the fallen hero, who paid the supreme price in the service of this great nation.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, ably represented by the Commandant Air Force Institute of Technology, Air Vice Marshal Isyaka Bukar, commissioned the new building. In his remarks, the representative of the CAS thanked the President and Commander-in-Chief for providing the enabling environment and the resources to build the accommodation, as part of efforts to meet the welfare needs of members of the Armed Forces. He further stated that the new accommodation would help reduce the problem of accommodation of airmen and airwomen on NAF Base Kaduna. During the commissioning ceremony, keys were distributed to enable beneficiaries immediately occupy the already furnished accommodation.

The current NAF leadership places a lot of premium on the welfare of personnel, knowing that well motivated personnel would be more committed to contributing their respective quota to the efforts at ensuring the security of Nigeria and Nigerians.
