The Nigerian Air Force has commissioned a new girls’ school in Abuja. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Mshl Sadique Abubakar said that the Air Force Girls Comprehensive School is a modest contribution to Mr President’s efforts to promote girl child education in the country. The objective, according to the CAS, “is to achieve social, economic and ecological well-being of our society and by so doing, add value to humanity”.
Meanwhile, the Honourable Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu has expressed the optimism that the new school would help to further close the gap and correct the disparity in girl child education. Speaking at the occasion, the Honourable Minister stated that the establishment of the school in a serene and secured environment within the NAF Base offers the advantage of eliminating some of the risks associated with the attendance of girls in schools, describing the NAF as a true partner in progress. The Honourable Minister was represented at the occasion by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan.
