Event Update

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, on 9 August 2017, hosted Nigerian Air Force (NAF) officers who recently graduated from the National Defence College (NDC) and other officers who completed equivalent courses. The decision of the CAS to personally host the 28 senior officers stemmed from their generally remarkable performance during their courses. Of the 28 senior     officers, 17 Group Captains graduated from the NDC, 3 from the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) while 8 others graduated from equivalent foreign defence colleges.

The performance of the NAF senior officers at the various institutions was an impressive improvement over the previous set of officers, who attended the same courses. In his remarks while hosting the senior officers, the CAS stated how elated he was when he learnt of the outstanding performance of the officers. He added that the NAF Air War College was established, in addition to other measures, in a bid to further enhancing the performance of NAF officers attending defence colleges. He expressed his happiness at seeing that the additional measures taken to improve the performance of NAF officers had started yielding fruits. He then urged the new graduates to work hard with a view to adding value to the NAF.

Group Captain Adebayo Kehinde was the best graduating NAF participant for NDC Course 25 while Group Captain Patrick Obeya won the CAS Award for the Best Research Project on Air Operations. Similarly, Group Captain UC Nwagwu got a B grading at NIPSS while the research papers by Group Captains Ahmed Bakari and Ebimobo Ebiowe won outstanding awards at the Air War College, Alabama, USA and the Royal College of Defence Studies, London respectively.
