The Air Force Girls Alumni Association of Nigeria (AFGAAN) today donated composite ration (Compo) packs to Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel in the North East in appreciation of the enormous contributions of the NAF to the ongoing fight against insurgency. The AFGAAN Welfare Coordinator, Aisha Ugochukwu, who presented over 500 compo packs to the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, stated that the gesture was to encourage NAF personnel to remain committed in their quest for peace in the country.
The National Vice Chairman of the Association, Zainab Gambo, who led the AFGAAN Executive members on the courtesy visit to the CAS disclosed that the Association would commission some “AFGAAN Gives Back Projects” at the Air Force Girls Comprehensive School, Jos to mark its 10 years of existence as an Alumni Association and to celebrate the 30TH Anniversary of the School. She thanked the NAF for its contributions to ‘girl child education’ adding that the calibre of women produced by the School over the years has justified the huge investment of the NAF in the provision of sound education to the girl child.
In his response, Air Marshal Abubakar expressed delight at the gesture of the Association and promised to deliver the compo packs to personnel in the operational area. He reassured AFGAAN of his commitment to girl child education and disclosed that the present NAF leadership is establishing new schools and strengthening existing ones to ensure easy access to quality education by dependents of NAF personnel.
