Chief of Communication Information Systems (CCIS)

1.      Air Vice Marshal Charles Idehen Oghomwen was born in Benin City on 18 April 1965 . He is from Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. He attended Iguodala Primary School Benin from 1971 – 1977 and Eghosa Grammar School Benin from 1977 - 1982.  He is a member of 35 Regular Course and was at the Nigerian Defence Academy from 19 January 1984 to 20 December 1986 when he was commissioned. The Senior Officer has a BSc degree in Economics from the University of Abuja and Masters in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria as well as an MSc in Strategic Studies from the University of Ibadan.

2.      AVM Oghomwen was a student pilot at 301 Flying Training School where he did his primary flying training and 303 Flying Training School where he had his basic flying training. He was also at the Junior Command and Staff Course – 1998,  Senior Command and Staff Course 24 – 2002 and National Defence College Course 20 - 2013. He is a pilot and has flown the Bulldog 123, L39 ZA, Do 228 and ATR 42.

3.      Some of the appointments held by the Senior Officer include Operations officer - 99 Air Weapons School Kainji and 303 FTS Kano; Staff Officer 2 Operations, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force; Air Operations Officer - United Nations Mission to Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL); Directing Staff - Armed Forces Command Staff College Jaji;  Deputy Defence Adviser (Air) - Nigeria High Commission London; Directing Staff - National Defence College, Abuja and Director, National and Military Strategy, National Defence College, Abuja. Others are Group Operations Officer - 81 AMG Benin – (OPS ZAMAN LAFIYA); Commander 209 Executive Airlift Group, Minna; Director of Manuals, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force; Director of Research and Development, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force; Chairman 2016 NAF Recruitment/Selection Board; Chairman NAF Games 2016 and Currently - Chief of Communications, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force.

4.      The Senior Officer has various awards and medals prominent among which are ‘Best in Flying Student’, SP 28A 301 Flying Training School; ‘Best-all-Round Student’, Junior Course 1998 AFCSC Jaji; ‘Best-in-Oral Exercises’, Senior Course 2002 AFCSC Jaji; Chief of Air Staff Commendation - NAF collaboration with Cranfield University London and Commandant, National Defence College Letter of Commendation. The medals are Forces Service Star, Meritorious Service Star, Distinguish Service Star, General Service Star, Passed Staff Course(+), Fellow Defence College(+) and United Nations Medals.

5.      He is married to Mrs Abies Evelyn Oghomwen and the marriage is blessed with children. His hobbies include walking, analysis of global events and watching news/documentaries.
